Event review: Girl Geeks Summer Gaming Tea Party @MadLab, Sunday 25th August 2013

mario_cookies-300x300Review by @ZoeEBreen

To tie in with Mcr GameJam who had teams working away on the Ludum Dare game making challenge upstairs at MadLab, we held our very own game-themed tea party downstairs.

One of the most popular activities proved to be sprite making using Hama beads – see the gallery below to see just how productive we all were!

We also heard from the gamejammers about how they’d met the ’10 second’ game challenge as part of Ludum Dare – including gamejam organiser @danhett‘s Vampire the Buffet Slayer.

We also said a big congatulations to the Young Rewired State team who were awarded ‘Best example of code’ at the first ever Festival of Code event for their project contag.io which simulated the spread of a virus.

Well done to Edward Bennigsen, Elise Ratcliffe, Nour Alomary, Samuel Johnson, Thomas Holt, Timothy Cuffe and Zac Gardner.
