In the interest of staying tuned in to what’s happening in the geek community, we’ll be posting details of upcoming local events that our members will be at, and recommending events for other girl geeks to attend. If you’re thinking of coming, please comment on this page – then we can know who’ll be there, and you can find other friendly faces!
Debugging the Gender Gap: CODE
Venue: Auto Trader, First Street, Manchester
Time: Tuesday, 8 March 2016 from 18:30 to 21:30
For our International Women’s Day celebration, Auto Trader will be opening the door to their very own pop up cinema, for a screen of the documentary film ‘Debugging the Gender Gap: CODE.’
Expect classic cinema fare including popcorn and other nibbles, with a few treats to keep you refreshed.
We don’t want the International Women’s Day party to end after the 8th of March, which is why we will be asking all attendees to make a pledge for parity, for how you hope to work towards a more equal future for women, whether that woman is you, close to you or even someone you don’t know yet on the other side of the world.
You will also have the opportunity to donate stylish, high-quality work clothing to the charity Smart Works, an amazing charity who give styling advice and interview training to out-of-work women on low incomes – helping them to feel confident, look fabulous, succeed at their job interview and move on with their life.
Individuals from all walks of life are welcome, so why not bring your brother, sister, mum, dad, husband or wife with you!
We hope you can join us at our First Street office, to help us celebrate all the amazing women we know and help us work towards creating a better future for women.
