Stand-up comedian, author and broadcaster Timandra Harkness, whose latest book is Big Data: Does Size Matter?, will be joining us for an entertaining overview of big data, from the very first time a caveperson carved a tally of how many beasts they’d killed, right through to the modern gigantic science experiments churning out hundreds of terabytes of data every day.

We’ll also have a delicious dinner, and the usual chance to meet and network with other Girl Geeks. Tickets cost only £6, and include your meal. Drinks will also be available.Big Data Book

Timandra Harkness is a writer, presenter and comedian. She presents BBC Radio 4 science shows FutureProofing and Human Zoo, hosts and chairs live events, and writes columns for print and online publications. She’s performed several different comedy shows at the Edinburgh Fringe, and her book, Big Data: Does Size Matter? came out in spring 2016. In her spare time she enjoys opera, motorcycles, and talking to strangers.
