Code of Conduct
We’re keen to make sure that our events are great for everyone, and so we have a code of conduct that we ask all attendees to follow.
We want to be inclusive; do not engage in homophobic, racist, transphobic, ableist, sexist – against persons of any gender – or otherwise exclusionary behaviour. Don’t make exclusionary jokes. Don’t even make them “ironically”.
Don’t harass people. Unconsented physical contact or sexual attention is harassment. Dressing or acting in a certain way is not consent.
Aggression and elitism are unwelcome here — it’s not a competition.
We’d rather you ask about gender than assume, and if you get it wrong, apologise, and use what they prefer.
There will be under-16s at the event – please make sure your language, is appropriate for a PG audience.
Attendees violating these rules may be asked to leave the event and will not be welcome back to our events in future. If you are subject to, or observe any harassment, or have any other concerns – please speak to a member of the Girl Geeks team, who will be wearing girl geek teeshirts and/or will be introduced at the start of the event, or email us afterwards at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Reports will be dealt with discreetly and in confidence.
We want everyone to have a great time, and treat each other with respect.
